On Sunday, December 16, the BCCTA family got together to celebrate all of the wonderful blessings God has lavished upon us during the past year. We’ve seen more and more kids join our Academy. We’ve seen more and more kids begin to climb the ladder and move from our Sunday “Fun Bunch” into our tournament training program. We’ve broken ground and are now ready to finish our new outdoor training facility. Things are looking for up for the kids and coaches of the BCC Tennis Academy!

At our Christmas party we announced the winners of the the “Press On,” “Barnabas,” and “Finisher” awards.

“Press On” Award: Taytum Jones

“I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:14 ESV)

Congratulations Taytum!

The Apostle Paul worked hard every day to do what God had given him to do.  He was never satisfied that he had done enough so he kept working each and every day.

The player who receives this award is the player who is never satisfied that they have reached their full potential.  This player has kept working, kept striving to get better in every practice, in every match, and in every point played.

As a result of this hard work, the Most Improved Player in the BCC Tennis Academy in 2018 receives the PRESS ON AWARD.  Congratulations….TAYTUM JONES!

“Barnabas” Award: Macy Hays

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” (Ephesians 4:29 NIVO)

Congratulations Macy!

At the BCC Tennis Academy we stress the importance of encouraging one another, to cheer on your teammates, and be a Team Player…

There is a guy in the Bible named Joseph, but nobody knew him by his real name. Everyone called him “Barnabas,” which means “THE ENCOURAGER.” Whenever you run into Barnabas in the Bible, he is always cheering for others, finding opportunities to encourage, and putting his teammates first.

The winner of The Barnabas Award is someone, if you have ever attended a Cheetahs or Barracudas match, you will hear…“Let’s Go Cheetahs”,  “Come on Barracudas”, “You Got This!” The 2018 recipient of the BCC Tennis Academy “Barnabas” Award is…MACY HAYS!

“Finisher” Award: Tokara Henderson

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” (Hebrews 12:1 NIVO)

Congratulations Tokara!

This award goes to the player that started the year like everyone else, and stayed committed all the way to the end.  This player made sacrifices to be on the court day and night, giving up weekends to play in tournaments, and keeping a championship level of focus.

This athlete understands it is not how you start – but how you finish that makes the difference.  Because of this level of commitment, the BCC Tennis Academy is honoring this year’s FINISHER AWARD winner…TOKARA HENDERSON!
